Sentinel

(Liberty Station/Ghost Squadron)

The Rebels needed a warship to stage their missions from. A mobile platform for troops and ships. A floating, armed base that would provide safety for its crew, and if necessary sanctuary to anyone who opposed the Imperial regime. Alas the Rebels had no such ship. The Jedi Master K`Tra had taken her star fighter and tried to find a ship to meet the needs of the budding rebellion but all she had encountered were Jedi hunters and imperial blockades. Taking refuge in a gas anomaly she makes a discovery that would turn the tide of battle in the direction of the Rebel Alliance. Floating abandoned was a large B-5 class frigate, hidden by the anomaly.

Docking with the ship the Jedi finds the ship empty, only the body of one being remains sitting in the captain's chair. On the control panel a yellow and cracked piece of paper. Written on it were the final words of the previous owner of the ship. In a shaking hand the words that were written:

I am Captain Tolari, these will likely be my final words and wishes. My crew has deserted me. They fear retribution from the Empire for our moving supplies for these people who would rebel against the Imperial dogs now holding this universe on a tight lease. Now only I and my ship remain. With the last of my available power I have placed my aging freighter in this gas cloud to hide her in hopes that she will be found by anyone that would use the ship against the Empire. So like the ship's namesake, the 'Sentinel' sits waiting and watching for the time it will be needed again. I only wish I could see that day, but my injuries during the mutiny are too serious. To whomever reads this letter…take my ship and use it to restore the old ways. May the forc….

The letter ends, the author having penned his final thoughts. Within 2 days a recovery team arrives to return the Sentinel to Liberty Station for retrofit. Over the next months the aging freighter is converted to a mighty vessel of combat. Shield generators installed, turrets and weapons launchers installed, troop quarters built, and finally a hanger bay fit into the largest of the cargo holds. Crews worked around the clock welding, grinding, and fabricating the armor and weapons systems that would serve the crew and the troops. Shortly the ship had been transformed into a working version of a Nebula B-class frigate. Both ships were built by the same ship yard…the Kuat drive yards , but this was one of the only ways the Alliance would ever get their hands on the frigate configuration.

The Sentinel was now ready to take on her final role, she was now a true medium class capital ship. Boasting an impressive list of armaments:

This 300 meter giant was now ready for duty. The Sentinel would become home for 850 crew (77 officers & 773 enlisted…or at least as close as Rebel COC represents) all ready to give their lives to see the basic freedoms restored to every being in the galaxy. Having the firepower of the Sentinel was going to bring a whole new meaning for the Rebels for the saying 'May the force be with you'.
