For a millennia the asteroids in the Minos Cluster had maintained their orbit and quietly moved in a stable orbit. Every 36 hours saw the passing of another cycle for this cluster of rock. So long had the asteroid field existed that it had become forgotten to the powers that now struggled for control of the galaxy. To them it was simply a few big rocks with a lot of smaller ones around it. And the biggest in the center of the field, no more than a rock with a bunch of sand for one half of the year and snow for the other half. The asteroid field had long ago been forgotten by the Empire. This mistake would be the first step towards a war that would strive to bring back freedom to all and end the oppression caused by the Empire.
Anyone that dared to, was skilled enough to, or crazy enough to fly into the center of the asteroid field would have a surprise waiting for them. For the Imperials it would be a deadly surprise. At first glance the large asteroid looked much like is brethren in the field, a mass of reddish brown rock highlighted by areas of yellow sand giving it almost an eerie glow. A network of natural canyons and peaks covered the asteroid. But at the end of one of those canyons was a large hanger door.the entrance to Liberty Station. Over the past 7 years the asteroid had been hollowed out inside to form a base, a sanctuary in space. This asteroid was now a fully functional rebel base that housed over ten thousand people consisting of fighters and their families, displaced governments, entire villages from various worlds overrun by the Empire and even the odd free trader or two. A sprawling network of intertwining caves and caverns, Liberty Station has quickly become known as the Promised Land for freedom and all who hold it dear.
After the discovery that the Sith had once again risen, the Jedi Council had foreseen the need of several such bases such as this one and, in a plan only known to a select few, had sent various Jedi Masters off to establish them. Just after the beginning of the Clone Wars, with little more than a pocket full of credits, a few droids and their hopes of restoring what was being destroyed by the Empire...six Jedi Masters were sent to the far reaches of the galaxies to carve out secret sanctuaries for those that were beaten by the Empire. That had everything stripped from them. Only a few of these sanctuaries survived. Liberty Station was one of them. It is able to shelter and repair up to a hundred fighters at one time and even to house and feed up to two thousand ground troops.
Now a crew was arriving assembled from various rebel outposts around the galaxies. They would be the heart of this part of the rebellion, calling this floating rock in the middle of this asteroid field "home". This crew and this base would begin to fulfill the visions of the Jedi Council, to bring back that which everyone held dear. This station was filled with equipment and supplies either stolen from, pirated from, or too worn out to be used by the Empire. The equipment was only as good as the people that used it. And the rebels were the best in the galaxy, not because of their skills but because of their hope to end the rule of the Empire once and for all. It was not only their job to survive the Empire but it was also their job to stop it.
This was not a job for the feint of heart.
